About a year ago, it snowed. Heavily. For Dutch terms. That doesn’t happen very often around here, so I went outside with Joran for an evening stroll.

There is nothing better than messing up fresh, untouched snow. The cold winter air stroked my legs as the snow squeaked under my boots. Snowflakes gently landed on my coat, scarf and nose.

Calvin & Hobbes, the famous cartoon by Bill Waterson, features a variety of snowmen.

Perhaps that had something to do with the fact that we suddenly noticed something suspicious. As we approached, the most gruesome snowman murder scene appeared before our eyes…

I almost forgot about the whole incident, until it snowed again this week. Although I haven’t seen any dead snowmen yet, the weirdest thing happened the other day. There is this guy, I call him ‘Mr. Couch Potato’, who randomly showed up in our backyard.

And he just sits there, all day, drinking beer and switching channels on the remote. Every time I’m in the kitchen and look outside, he is there, simply staring at nothing in particular.

And he doesn’t look like he is planning to move anytime soon.

We’re planning to tackle our garden in spring, so we asked someone to come by for advice.

At this point I’m just wondering what the gardener will think when he comes by and takes a better look at our garden…

Have you encountered any weird snowmen lately? Show me!

Haha it made us laugh ;) I sort of want it to be our new snow ritual, a thing that we will be doing for years and years to come, making a collection of silly snowmen.
