Once upon a time, I went on a safari. It was my dad, my sister and me. I felt so mature. I was about 8 years old. I got to stay up way after bedtime and sugar crashed on jellybeans (which my parents normally never let me do). I was both excited and terrified. The latter had to do mostly with the fact that the windows of the bus didn’t close, and I knew that any wild animal could be lurking in the dark of the South-African night.
Flash forward 20 years. I decided it was time for another safari. But not just any safari. A Robot Safari dinner party. And although I couldn’t say it looked anything like my childhood safari memory, it did feel very much like being a kid again…
Everyone dressed up in theme,
and brought a delicious dish in theme.
We ate ostrich with computer chips (the chips unfortunately overloaded with oil in the preparation process).
And although no wild animal lurked around, Ex Machina did.
It’s not often I see so many monkeys in the house…
running around with banana’s ;)
or have robots casually fishing on the dinner table.
It makes you wonder…
Perhaps next Christmas dinner could be a wonderful excuse to transform old memories into new ones and play together…
PS. So far Joran and I hosted a number of themed dinner parties: Circus of Illusions, Milkyway Takeaway, Magically Coloured Childhood Memories and Blacklight Science Fair.

It looks so fun! We had a robot party a few years ago and I loved it although we didn’t do themed food like this. We just did a tasty buffet but we did put up family portraits of robots all the way up the stairs

That sounds like so much fun! Love the portraits of robots idea. Isn’t it funny how a theme can transforms the entire experience?
