Some days I don’t want to be happy. Of course I sort of do, because no one consciously says ridiculous things like that. I mean that some days I don’t feel like putting in the effort to actively change the things I don’t like.
When it feels like you need to drag a spark of happy out of the depth of your toes, it helps to have positive, reinforcing messages around you. They won’t do all the work for you, but they will remind you of your positive pursuit in darker times.
How? Well, why not add some subtle sparkles to your shoes? Not for others to see, but for you to remember your happy goals. Just tape a happy token to the inside of your shoes. It can be a reminder of being kind, spreading joy and happiness, being confident or loving yourself. Your happy token can be anything: a small heart out of glitter, confetti taped to your sole, or even a tiny sun just so you can sing ‘I’m walking on sunshine’ from the top of your lungs.
So, if you want to add a little skip to your step: just remind yourself of whatever your happy goals are each time you put on your shoes to go out into the world.
Find a pair of shoes that you love.
Take a piece of paper. Apply glue to it. Gently sprinkle some glitter over it and let it dry. Then cut out a heart shape.
Cover your heart with tape. Leave enough tape to the side for it to stick to your sole. Then stick it inside of your shoe.
What would your happy token remind you of?

I love the heart-in-the-shoe idea! Sometimes I lose track of my happy goals when I’m distracted by other people’s happy goals, but reminding myself every time I leave the house is a grand idea. :)
