Bells are ringing, stars are sparkling bright, winter nights are getting frosty and Christmas is around the corner. It is the time to snuggle up in your warm woollen sweater, drink hot chocolate milk and eat Christmas cookies. So if you are in Christmas baking mood already, here is a fun idea: 3D Christmas tree cookies! If the above picture doesn’t convince you, think about this: for every tree, you get three (see how I even made a slogan for my idea, that’s how enthusiastic I am about it). Yup.

For the cookie dough, take any basic recipe you like.

If you aren’t sure how to make royal icing, I explained how to in my rainbow heart cookie post.

I didn’t add a description for every picture for a change. I assume the steps speak for themselves. If you have any questions however, just ask!

The only additional comment I have, is to let the icing harden sufficiently between each step (it can take a couple of hours for a thicker layer to dry completely). You don’t want to start assembling your tree if it drips green sticky stuff all over the place.

I would have spent ages trying to find a triangle cookie cutter if you hadn’t have shown the cardboard version.

these look super impressive but super easy.

Cute! I assume you have to take it apart to eat it though haha.
Would be great for a Christmas dessert scene or part of a gingerbread house. :D

Haha I love doing 3D baking projects. I made sunglass-cookies the other day.. but it was kind of a failed experiment.. the legs broke off and everything.. so you won’t see that one over here ;)
