What I love about visiting cities you don’t know very well, is exploring, seeing things that you normally don’t and enjoying all the new impressions. I often find it inspiring to be surprised by things you aren’t normally exposed to.
When I visited Antwerp with Anne two years back, we discovered some really charming shops. I have been in the (above depicted) fabric store before once and I still can’t help but to delight in all the pretty patterns and colours. It makes me want to sew a new dress instantly. I didn’t end up buying anything, as it was rather expensive (I think they import a lot from Japan). But just looking at the pictures again makes me happy.
I love to see street artists at work. It is not too often that I see this in my own city, so I loved coming across a guy who was making a great piece of art with only white and black chalk.
What these places and people offer is a wish in me to create. In a way that wish is always there, but simply walking around Antwerp made me want to sew dresses, play music, make art and dress pretty.
I think that’s the reason why travelling is so great. All the new stimuli open your senses and imagination, and help you to form new ideas and desires.
Do you ever get that feeling when you are out of your country? Even if it is just over the border?

Looks like such a fun area. Soo many great fabrics and that guy that did the lion drawing is so talented.
