Last week I collaborated quite randomly with someone I’ve never met. Someone I know asked me to color in a black marker drawing his brother made on canvas. As my days of coloring books are long gone, it seemed like the awesome grown up version of coloring inside the lines. And here is the result.

I like working together with other artists because it results in surprising combinations of style. My drawings never look creepy. Not even if I try really hard. I somehow just end up drawing butterflies, rainbows and unicorns. Sort of. So in collaborations like this one, I think it is great to combine the creepy with the colorful. You get art that neither one of us could have created by him/herself, and that’s really inspiring to me. It makes me want to create more.

What a great idea! I love the colors you chose. They enhance the drawing without diminishing its creepiness.

Well it certainly is creepy…Haha! But I do love the collaboration and the coloring. The final product is great, and essentially that’s what matters to viewers right?

And I certainly agree with you on your last paragraph. How interesting to take a piece of art and interpret it in your own way! It’s not often you get to see something unfinished and have the opportunity to add to it. I hope you share more if you do more!
