My friend Anne and I have an ‘Usy Klub’. Which is just another way of saying we have a moustache club, only in Russian. I kind of forgot why we used Russian. I have no Russian connections, well, not counting my Russian housemate, and I only know 3 Russian words: ‘usi’, ‘klub’ and ‘da’. I guess it just sounds funny.

Anyway, that was not so much the point. The point was that it was Anne’s birthday Saturday, and I decided to make her a teapot. You know, for our moustache club meetings. She actually made me moustache cups for my birthday as well, but it would be really sweet if we could just drink from moustache cups everywhere we go, not only at my place.

I used a ceramic marker and ceramic paint. The caption ‘voor (stoere) meisjes’ translates as ‘for (tough) girls’. That’s not Russian though, that’s just Dutch (remember? The thing I speak everyday).

Have you ever painted ceramics before?

I love it! I have painted unfinished ceramics before (where it had to go in an oven) but not pens.

Yes this needed to go in the oven as well. The pen is really easy; I found it in the art supply store and I love it!

I’ve been shopping online for some good ceramic paints! I have a teapot that I really want to paint. It’s one of my secret new years resolutions to do that!

Good for you! You should show it when it is finished! Do you know yet what you want to paint on it? That was the hardest part to me – I was staring at it for ages haha

I’ve never painted ceramics before, and this is such a cute way to do it! I love how it is both masculine and feminine… girly pink with manly mustaches. ;)

Thank you :) It’s not that much different from painting on other stuff actually. The paint was a bit more difficult to work with, but I think that’s a matter of experience
