I set myself creative challenges. This week I have a new one:

The challenge: Make five postcards and mail them.

The digital age had enabled us to tremendous awesome things, to communicate with our beloved ones in a way that people wouldn’t have imagined a couple of decades ago. With one click you can send a message that will be delivered less than a second later to someone at the other side of the world. All of this is pretty amazing of course, but at the same time I feel like those developments also come with a loss of physical elements and personal touch. We all know how awesome it is to get something in the mail. To tear the wrapper of a package, smell the paper, to instantly recognize someone’s handwriting and know the sender before even seeing his/her name.

This week is about making 5 postcards and send them to people. You can draw, cut, glue, use images, paper, textures, whatever you feel like. You can even use glitter. Just experiment & have fun: I assure you that people will be more excited about getting a personal card than they worry about how out of proportion your stick figure looks.

For postcard awesomeness, you can also check Post Secret. I love the concept and have been following the blog for ages. Of course you don’t need to actually write your secret down (although hey, feel free to do so if you want), but it gives a nice view on how different people make different postcards varying from very simple ideas to little pieces of art.

Feel free to join in, and I am excited to hear if you do!

Well, I don’t really have a craft store nearby either.. You could also just cut up cardboard to postcard sizes, use scrap paper and letters from magazines, draw, etc! :)

Oops I forgot to mention, no, these are all ones I received in the mail. Would be great if you join! It’s not about looking perfect, more about the act of making and connecting with the people you love :) I would suggest you mail them to friends or family, anyone that is special to you or deserves a card.. But it could be anyone really (could even be to a stranger) would be great :)
