When I cleaned up the balloon trees I created last year, I didn’t trash the balloons. Instead, I collected them. I thought perhaps I could reuse these old balloons as a colourful material for a new art project.

From the big bag of tangled balloons that I had brought down from the attic, I took a small portion and gave them a loving, warm bath.

One by one, I untied the knots, cut away the yarn, rinsed them and took them out of the water again. First the reds, then the oranges, then the yellows.

All in a neat, sorted arrangement on a huge towel by the window, dried by the warmth of the sun.

As I looked at these bits and blobs in all the colours of the rainbow, I realised they looked beautiful already as they were – a giant happy balloon collage – even though I didn’t ‘make them into art’ yet.

It’s only human to want results, and to want them yesterday. But if you’re only focused on the end result, you miss the beauty that’s in the process.

When you hold still for just the slightest moment, you may find that there’s beauty and art in everything, even if that’s sorting your garbage in the living room.

Thanks for the reminder about the “beauty of the process”! Inspirational idea!

The patience I feel by the, description of the process of cleaning and sorting out the balloons is something I can admire… take the time for those things where I forget to take time for because I am running from one result tot the other….

Yes, in that sense it’s quite metaphorical haha. Often we (myself included) tend to rush the process to get to those results quickly. It’s understandable, but sometimes worthwhile to look up and take a small moment to see what you are doing and achieving already :)
